To celebrate 40 years of SAW, our lovely friends at Cheer Up are organising a pop gala in Liverpool in November.
Celebrating Stock Aitken Waterman and The Hit Factory, the event will feature classic SAW artists Sonia, Sinitta, Sybil, Haywoode and Josselyne from Boy Krazy as well as Hit Facory favourites Rachel McFarlane, Tina Cousins and Maggie K De Monde from Scarlet Fantastic.
The Cheer Up chaps have kept alive the music of Stock Aitken Waterman through their party events for over a decade, and this gala will be their biggest yet.

THE PLAYERS
SONIA
Sonia Evans (born 13 February 1971), known mononymously as Sonia, is an English pop singer and actress from Liverpool. She had a 1989 UK number one hit "You'll Never Stop Me Loving You" and became the first female UK artist to achieve five top 20 hit singles from one album. She represented the United Kingdom in the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest, where she finished second with the song "Better the Devil You Know". Between 1989 and 1993, she had 11 UK Top 30 hits, including "Listen to Your Heart" (1989), "Counting Every Minute" (1990) and "Only Fools (Never Fall in Love)" (1991). In 1994, she starred as Sandy in a West End revival of the musical Grease, while on television she appeared as Bunty in the 1998 BBC comedy series The Lily Savage Show.
Sonia continues to perform and release new music.

SINITTA
Sinitta Malone (born 19 October 1968), known professionally as Sinitta, is an American-born British singer, songwriter, television personality, dancer, actress and record producer.
She initially found commercial success in the mid-1980s with the single "So Macho" and had several other hits during the decade.
In the 2000s, she became known for television appearances, including Loose Women, The Xtra Factor and This Morning. She took part in the ITV show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2011.
Sinitta is well known for her pop hits of the 80's including "Toy Boy", "So Macho" and "Cross My Broken Heart".
She is also known for her relationship and friendship with Simon Cowell.
​Sinitta was married from 2002 to 2010 to Andy Willner, and has two adopted children.

SYBIL
Sybil Lynch, known simply as Sybil, is an American R&B and pop singer–songwriter. Sybil gained notable success in her career with songs during the mid-1980s into the mid-1990s.
She achieved worldwide crossover hits with "Don't Make Me Over" (UK #19) and "Walk On By" (Uk #6)
In January 1993, Sybil achieved her most successful hit in the UK, with a cover of "The Love I Lost" peaking at #3; its follow-up "When I'm Good and Ready" peaked at #5.
Sybil appeared on the UK version of the TV series Hit Me, Baby, One More Time in 2005 performing her hit "When I'm Good and Ready".
Sybil still does gigs and releases the occasional single.

HAYWOODE
Haywoode (Sidney Haywoode, London) is an English female singer. She is best known for the 1986 UK Top 20 hit single, "Roses". She later also recorded under the name Sid Haywoode.
Haywoode trained from an early age at London's Corona Stage Academy.
Her career started with modeling, dancing and acting roles on British television shows and in movies.
She released 2 singles with Stock Aitken Waterman, "Getting Closer" (#67) and "You'd Better Not Fool Around" (#82) but it was her 1986 single "Roses" that gave her the big hit reaching #11. All songs were featured on her debut album, "Arrival".
In 2019 Haywoode released “Look My Way” a Stock Aiken Waterman song (which was originally written for her and later recorded and released on Kylie’s first album).

MAGGIE K DE MONDE (SCARLET FANTASTIC)
Scarlet Fantastic were a British pop band active in the 1980s, consisting of Maggie K. De Monde and Rick P. Jones. The duo were former members of pop trio Swans Way, who had a hit with "Soul Train" in 1984.
Scarlet Fantastic reached the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart only once, with1987 single "No Memory", a song which would become popular a few years later on the rave and Ibiza dance music scenes.
After Scarlet Fantastic split Maggie married Leif Kahal and during the 90's recorded as Kahal & Kahal. From 1991 to 1996 they were signed to PWL and recorded lots of material, including the Stock/Waterman track "Show Me No Mercy", but none of it was released.

Maggie still records and releases music.

JOSSELYNE HERMAN SACCIO (BOY KRAZY)
Boy Krazy featured singers Kimberly Blake, Josselyne Jones, Johnna Lee Cummings, Renée Veneziale, and Ruth Ann Roberts.
Their signature pop song "That's What Love Can Do" was released in 1991, but it failed to become a hit. Shortly after the release of the single, Veneziale left the band. Carrying on as a foursome, the group released their second single "All You Have to Do" in 1992, but it also failed to chart. That same year, "That's What Love Can Do" started gaining success in clubs and discothèques across America and substantial airplay on radio stations. The song was remixed and re-released, becoming a hit in the US where it peaked at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1993. The album Boy Krazy was released in 1993, and also included the follow-up single "Good Times with Bad Boys", which also hit the Billboard Hot 100​​
